These Terms of Use govern your use of italianbylara.com, the coaching services, and the self-paced digital courses provided by Italian by Lara (Dr Teresa Lara Pugliese). By using this website, booking a programme, or buying a course, you agree to these terms.
Sections 1 to 7 concern one-to-one coaching. Section 8 concerns self-paced digital courses and governs where the two differ.
1. The service
Italian by Lara offers private, one-to-one Italian language and culture coaching sessions delivered online via video call. All programmes are bespoke and built around each individual student.
2. Booking and payment
Programmes are confirmed upon receipt of full payment (or the agreed first instalment where a payment plan has been arranged). Payment details will be provided during the discovery call or by email.
All prices are listed in US Dollars (USD) and are inclusive of all materials provided as part of the programme.
3. Cancellation and rescheduling
We understand that life happens. Sessions may be rescheduled with a minimum of 24 hours notice and will be rebooked within the same week. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may be counted as used.
No session is ever permanently lost due to reasonable scheduling changes.
4. Satisfaction guarantee
If after your first session you feel the programme is not right for you, you may request a full refund of your programme fee. No deductions, no questions asked. Refund requests must be made within 48 hours of the first session.
This guarantee applies to programme packages only (The Essential, The Signature, The Intensive) and not to single sessions.
5. Intellectual property
All materials provided as part of your programme — including lesson plans, audio recordings, and written exercises — are created exclusively for your personal use. They may not be shared, reproduced, or distributed without written permission from Dr Teresa Lara Pugliese.
6. Conduct
We ask that all students engage with respect and good faith. Italian by Lara reserves the right to end a coaching relationship if conduct is deemed inappropriate, with a pro-rata refund for unused sessions.
7. Limitation of liability
Italian by Lara makes no guarantees as to specific language outcomes, as progress depends on individual effort and commitment. We are committed to providing the highest quality coaching and materials, but results will vary from person to person.
8. Self-paced digital courses
This section applies to self-paced digital courses sold through this website, including Real Conversations. Where it differs from the sections above, this section applies.
8.1 Who you are buying from
Course orders are processed by our reseller, Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as the merchant of record for the purchase. Paddle handles the payment, the invoice and any sales tax or VAT due in your country, and their terms govern the payment transaction itself. The course and the teaching materials are provided by Italian by Lara.
8.2 What you receive, and when
As soon as your payment is confirmed you receive an email with a link to your private student area on this website. Everything is there: the worksheets to download, the audio files, and the karaoke videos, which play inside the student area. Access is tied to the email address used at purchase.
8.3 Immediate access and your right to cancel
The course is supplied in full the moment payment is confirmed. At checkout you are asked to agree to that immediate supply and to acknowledge that, in doing so, you lose the statutory 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. If you would rather not give that consent, please do not complete the purchase.
8.4 Refunds
Because the whole course is delivered instantly and cannot be returned, purchases are not refundable. The course page sets out in detail what is included, at what level it is pitched, and who it is not intended for, so that the decision can be made before buying rather than after.
That does not apply when something has gone wrong on our side. You will be refunded in full if you were charged twice for the same order, if access is never delivered to you, or if the materials are faulty and we cannot put them right within a reasonable time. Write to contact@italianbylara.com and it will be dealt with properly.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where digital content is faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose.
8.5 What you may and may not do with the materials
Your purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the course materials for your own learning. You may print the worksheets and keep the audio files for as long as you like.
You may not share, resell, upload or otherwise distribute the materials, in whole or in part, and you may not give anyone else access to your student area. Downloaded worksheets carry the name and email address of the person who bought them. Access is limited to a small number of devices, and may be suspended where materials or credentials are evidently being shared.
8.6 How long you have access
The worksheets and the audio files are downloaded to your own device and are yours to keep indefinitely, independently of this website. Nothing expires and there is nothing to renew.
The videos are streamed within the student area. Access to the student area is guaranteed for a minimum of two years from the date of purchase, and in practice remains available for as long as the course is offered. If the course is withdrawn, you will be given at least 60 days' notice and the opportunity to download all materials, videos included, before access ends.
8.7 Price and currency
Course prices are shown in US Dollars, unless a separate price is set for your country. Any sales tax or VAT is calculated and displayed at checkout by our reseller, according to where you are.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland and the United Kingdom. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
